Three-row SUVs are one of the most competitive categories on the market. For a long time, the king of this segment has been the Ford Explorer. Now, it appears that there is a new leader of the pack. In a recent side by side review from Motortrend, the Hyundai Palisade was able to top the venerable Ford Explorer. Read on to learn more.

The Palisade's interior makes all the difference

One of the biggest reasons why the Palisade was able to top the Explorer was the lush interior. The premium and upscale design of the interior resembled that of a luxury brand. By comparison, the Explorer's interior looks rather cheap for its price range. One of the Motortrend reviewers remarked that the Palisade's interior was on par with comparable SUVs from Buick, Acura, and even Cadillac.

One of the standout features of the Palisade's interior is the fully digital instrument cluster. This is a relatively new feature that most vehicles do not have yet. The reviewers marveled at the live camera feed available on the digital cluster that reveals the vehicle's blind spot to the driver. This is a feature that is not found on the Explorer.

One of the other interior features that made the Palisades a winner amongst our Maryville, TN drivers was the comfort of the front seats. The reviewers noted that the front seat comfort of the Palisades was far superior to the front seat comfort offered by the Explorer.

Finally, the reviewers noticed that the Hyundai Palisade offered a larger 10.2-inch infotainment screen compared to the 8-inch infotainment screen of the Ford Explorer.

Overall, the Motortrend team said that the Hyundai Palisade won the comparison over the Ford Explorer mainly because of the Palisade's many interior advantages over the Explorer.
